An Underberg teenager has pleaded guilty to raping his cousin and then murdering her and his aunt.
|||Durban - An Underberg teenager has pleaded guilty to raping his cousin and then murdering her and his aunt.
The 17-year-old told the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Wednesday that on March 28 he had consumed alcohol before visiting his aunt, Zenzile Phungula.
When he had got to his aunt’s home he had found her talking to his cousin, Bazini Gcume. When Phungula had seen him, she had begun to chastise him, and he became upset.
“She was constantly treating me badly and I did not like it,” he said.
He said he had strangled his aunt and then pinned his cousin down on the kitchen floor and raped her. Then he had realised she would report him to the police, so he had killed her as well.
“I strangled her the same way I strangled my aunt and then I fled,” the teenager said.
The case has been adjourned for a pre-sentencing report.
