|||Durban - Former national police commissioner Bheki Cele last night advised his fellow uMhlanga residents to choose the right security company that would prevent criminals from plying their trade in the suburb.
Cele was speaking at an uMhlanga Ridge security presentation held at the Oyster Box yesterday after a spate of burglaries and robberies that have hit uMhlanga. Cele was also a victim of crime last month when robbers raided his vehicles parked in the garage and made off with a bottle of alcohol.
Those attending last night’s meeting live in Sector 1 in uMhlanga Ridge, where there are 177 houses.A PowerPoint presentation on the suburb and its police sectors was discussed.
Neglected municipal facilities, the increase in foot traffic and access and entry points were discussed. Four security companies held discussions with residents explaining their strategy to deter and fight crime in uMhlanga. This included hi-tech street cameras and response vehicles.
