Durban - Police are on the hunt for two men operating as appliance repair technicians who have scammed several Durban residents out of their money.

Police spokeswoman, Captain Louise le Roux, said the men approached homeowners door to door, offering to repair electrical appliances.

The men are white and in their early thirties.

“One of the males calls himself Edward. They would request a cash deposit, which they claim will be used as a ‘security deposit’ for collection of the broken appliance and purchasing of parts. Upon receipt of the ‘security deposit’, they would not be seen again.”

Victims should report the scam to their nearest police station.
