Durban - KwaZulu-Natal co-operative governance MEC Nomusa Dube accused the media on Tuesday of siding with opposition parties in reporting on a controversial 700-page forensic audit report.

Dube, who was releasing a report of recommendations emanating from the so-called Manase report, said the media chose to distort information.

They compromised themselves by only seeking to portray opposition party views, she said.

Earlier, opposition parties walked out of a full council session after Dube refused to release the audit report.

Its summary was made available to the council last year, but opposition parties in the province have been calling for the full report to be released.

The morning council meeting was closed. The press and public who attempted to enter the public gallery at Durban's City Hall were barred by security from doing so. - Sapa
