A suspected house robber is in a critical condition, after he was shot in the neck by a resident from whom he tried to steal.
|||Durban - A suspected house robber is in a critical condition at a Richards Bay hospital, after he was shot in the neck by a resident from whom he tried to steal a cellphone.
Police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane said the unknown man and an accomplice entered an Arboretum home at about 8pm, armed with a crowbar and a brick.
They demanded cellphones and when one of the residents refused, one of the robbers allegedly assaulted him with the crowbar, gashing his head.
One of the other occupants in the house then shot the suspect.
When paramedics arrived, the alleged robber was unconscious, said Nectcare 911’s spokesman Chris Botha.
He is under police guard at Ngwelezane Hospital. He faces a charge of house robbery.
His accomplice escaped with a cellphone.
