|||Durban - Two people escaped uninjured when a goods train derailed on a bridge at Banana Beach, on the Natal south coast on Monday, paramedics said.
Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said train's engines stayed on the tracks, but several coaches went off the side of the bridge and plunged into the lagoon.
Transnet spokesman Selby Dlamini said 11 empty wagons and a diesel locomotive derailed a few kilometres north of Port Shepstone at about 4pm.
No one was injured, but the line had been closed.
Dlamini said it was not clear what had caused the derailment or when the line would reopen. - Sapa
