A KwaZulu-Natal man convicted of raping a mentally disturbed woman was sentenced to life in prison.
|||Durban - A KwaZulu-Natal man convicted of rape was sentenced to life in prison by the Esikhawini Regional Court on Thursday, said police.
The 47-year-old man raped a mentally disturbed woman in Mpembeni near Port St Johns in August 2010, said Captain Thulani Zwane.
“She was at home at Esikhawini area when she was approached by the man, who dragged her to the nearby sugarcane field 1/8and raped her 3/8,” he said.
The victim's sister, who became worried and went searching for her, caught the man in the act. He fled, but was arrested soon after. - Sapa
