KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested a a teen for allegedly stabbing a man in a sports bar and trying to attack police officers.
|||KwaZulu-Natal - A teenager has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a man in a Phoenix sports bar and trying to attack police officers with a knife, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Tuesday.
Police were alerted about the stabbing at the R&V Sports Bar on Saturday night, said Captain Thulani Zwane.
Police officers went to the scene and found a 30-year-old man who had been stabbed. The victim gave police a description of his attacker.
A search was carried out in the Brookdale area of Phoenix and the teenager was found about an hour later.
“During the arrest, the suspect became violent and attempted to stab the officers with a knife,” said Zwane.
“The members, fearing for their lives, fired shots, wounding the suspect in the body.”
He was taken to hospital for treatment under police guard.
Once he recovers, he will appear in the Phoenix Magistrates' Court to face charges of attempted murder and assault. - Sapa
