Delegates at the African National Congress' provincial general council in KwaZulu-Natal will decide later on Saturday as to who will lead the province.
The party's deputy chairman Willies Mchunu and Senzo Mchunu, who heads up the party's provincial political education unit, have been nominated by the party's branches.
The post of chairman has become vacant following the election of Zweli Mkhize to the position of ANC national treasurer.
Spokesman Senzo Mkhize said that voting would take place on Saturday.
Delegates will also have to also elect three new provincial executive members.- Sapa
