“The department will engage the stadium management to ensure that such incidents do not occur in future, as stadiums are supposed to be safe places where sport-loving people and their families can enjoy themselves,” he said.
Brett Williams, 29, a Royal Marine, was beaten to death on Saturday after the Sharks and the Melbourne Rebels match at Kings Park Stadium.
Sibhidla-Saphetha urged any witnesses to co-operate with police. Police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane said the motive for the killing was not known. No arrests had been made. - Sapa
