A man was arrested in connection with murder and robbery of a 51-year-old man in Kloof in Durban.
|||Durban - A man was arrested on Friday in connection with murder and robbery in Kloof in Durban, police said.
Colonel Vincent Mdunge said the 25-year-old man was taken into custody in Pinetown around 7.30am.
Two men were linked to a crime that happened around 6.40am on Friday.
“It is alleged that at about 6.40am, a 51 year-old man was opening the door at his residence at Igwababa road in Kloof, when he was confronted by two suspects,” said Mdunge.
“One suspect who had a firearm shot him five times in the abdomen and the victim died at the scene. After the shooting, the suspects allegedly went inside the house where his wife was also threatened with a firearm. The suspects ransacked the house and took a laptop.”
When police arrived at the scene, the two men fled.
The 25-year-old was caught. A pistol and a laptop were recovered.
He was charged with murder, house robbery, and possession of an unlicensed firearm, and was expected to appear in Pinetown Magistrate's Court soon.
Provincial commissioner Lt-Gen Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the quick response and arrest.
