Durban - A second suspect has been arrested as part of the investigation into the brutal murder of Rodney Bradley at his Kloof home on Friday.

This follows a combined effort between the Hillcrest police dog unit and private investigator Brad Nathanson’s team on Sunday.

Bradley, 55, was shot twice through the front door while trying to prevent his attackers from entering his home.

His fiancee, Terri Carlson, saw the attackers through the window and then heard the shots soon afterwards. She locked herself in the bathroom and called for help. The attackers tried to get into the bathroom, but fled soon after.

The attack on Friday was the fifth break-in at the Igwababa Road property in less than three months, according to the Sunday Tribune.

Police spokesperson Vincent Mdunge said one suspect was arrested while he tried to flee the house.

Nathanson said on Sunday night that a swift operation resulted in the arrest of the second suspect, a 22-year-old man.

A third suspect was still at large, but Nathanson said it was only a matter of time before an arrest would be made.

Nathanson thanked the dog unit for its quick response and successful co-operation.

“I am proud to have worked together with police and made the arrest. We will catch the third guy soon,” he said.

Police released a statement on Friday saying several members of the Panga, Whoonga and Finger gangs had been arrested in recent weeks.

Mdunge said five men had appeared in court on various charges related to brutal home invasions. - The Mercury
