A KZN student claims she was kidnapped by a 19-year-old and kept prisoner at an Umbilo lodge where he beat her and raped her.
|||Durban - A Durban teenager’s night of terror was to have its sequel in the Durban’s Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday when her ex-boyfriend was expected to appear on allegations of kidnapping and rape.
The 18-year-old student has claimed she was kidnapped by a 19-year-old on Friday night and kept prisoner at an Umbilo lodge where he beat her and raped her.
She said she eventually escaped on Saturday afternoon when he forgot to lock the door after checking up on her.
The traumatised teenager reached the lodge’s owner, who took her to Musgrave Centre.
Meanwhile, her frantic mother was at Greenwood Park police station where she had gone to report her daughter missing: “I was making a missing persons report when I got a call from her asking me to pick her up,” she said.
Her daughter’s alleged assailant had bitten her and struck her head on the car floor.
The family claim that her attacker had been harassing her and on the day she was kidnapped, had allegedly become infuriated when he saw a picture of her with a male friend on her cellphone.
“She had been shopping with her friends and had returned home in her car just after 6pm on Friday,” her mother recounted.
A man was allegedly waiting for her in his car and he opened her door as she waited to get through the gate of the family’s complex.
He allegedly dragged her into his car by her hair.
Her mother, worried about her, began ringing her friends to find out if they had seen her daughter.
Her mother eventually tracked down the boy in the photograph, who told her that her daughter’s ex-boyfriend had made 20 missed cellphone calls to her daughter while they were out shopping, but that she had not answered.
