|||Durban - A Durban professor of medicine has appealed to the public to return his dark blue bag containing important documents taken when his car was hijacked on Monday night in Alcock Crescent, Berea.
Professor Angelo Lasich, 78, of the Department of Psychiatry, Nelson Mandela School of Medicine in Umbilo, was unharmed but visibly shaken by the ordeal.
Lasich had parked his white Mercedes Compressor C180 in the garage when two men approached him and demanded the keys.
“I normally phone home when I am close by to alert my wife of my arrival.
“She sent the domestic worker down to open the garage door. I was about to close the garage door when this guy pointed a pistol at me. The man asked for my car keys, took my cellphone and told me to lie down.
His briefcase contained patient reports and a document he had written for a soon-to-be-published textbook. He said the bag had “Sydney conference 2004” written on the flap.
